New outlooks on body practices and health

Abstract


Historically, a biological frame of reference for studies on the body, on health and bodily practices has been predominant on the field of Physical Education. Such a view has reinforced the idea that practicing physical activity is in itself, a guarantee of the population’s health. The goal of this paper is to contribute to rethinking the concepts and values that are present in such a relationship, from a socio-cultural
perspective. For these purposes, we have carried out a review of the literature and academic production of a
research group is seeking new outlooks for health through a meeting of the fields of Physical Education and Public Health.
