AS NARRATIVAS SOBRE O FUTEBOL FEMININO O DISCURSO DA MÍDIA IMPRESSA EM CAMPO

Ludmila Mourão, Marcia Morel

Abstract

The twentieth century promoted the visibility and stability of women in sports. Women’s football experienced many attempts in this context, but did not find permanent room yet in the field of sport. In this study our goal is to follow the narratives of printed media (newspapers and magazines) from 1930 to 2000, about the trajectory of women’s football, and to analyze the terms under which the discourse of printed media, in this topic, focalizes representations of resistance against the inclusion of women’s sport in Brazilian society. It has been observed that messages and meanings of the “fourth power ” are full of stereotypes, interdictions, polemics and regulations about the practice of feminine football through metaphors of fragility, aesthetics, masculine body and resistance.
